A BRIDE FOR THE SHEIKH Needs Your Vote!

I'm thrilled and honored that my latest sheikh romance, A BRIDE FOR THE SHEIKH, has been nominated for a RONE Award for contemporary romance! Here's what they are saying about the book:

Angelina Smith is on holiday visiting her father in the Middle East, due to start law school upon her return to London. Her father’s business collapsed in a bad economy, which resulted in his wife leaving him and his move to find work. When he is invited to attend a formal gathering at the Sultan’s home, Angelina agrees to accompany him. It is there that the Sultan’s youngest son encounters Angelina and is instantly drawn to her. Before he can get acquainted she is gone. His father has pre-arranged a marriage to a woman he cares nothing about.  He is desperate to find the girl he met and convince his father to let him choose his own bride. Will the Sheikh find Angelina before his time runs out?

Ms. Lane goes into great detail of Middle-eastern etiquette and its royalty. Her deftly written visual descriptions will emerge the reader in the middle of the very hot desert with palatial mansions. The romantic connection between a royal Sheikh and a commoner is a familiar love story but “A Bride for the Sheikh” has a twist which includes many western personalities and character traits. The story is a brisk romance. However, it keeps one engaged until the very end to see where the relationship will go. Readers will surely enjoy the sacrifices made in the name of love, and how family, along with friends, show their support. This is a quick-read novella and will not disappoint!

Sheikhs and Cowboys - A Review of 2013

2013 was quite a year for me. It started off with the publication of my second sheikh romance, The Desert Sheikh, which became a huge hit! Seeing the book reach Number 1 on Amazon and then staying there for 3 months was amazing.

I then went on to write two more sheikh romances, The Sheikh's Beloved and A Bride For The Sheikh, with the Bride romance hitting Number 1 on Amazon yesterday. What a way to end the year!

A BRIDE FOR THE SHEIKH - Sneak peek

Although I'm still busy editing my new sheikh romance, A BRIDE FOR THE SHEIKH, I'm giving everyone a sneak peak of the first chapter.

“Rashid, you have no choice,” declared His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Bezira.

Sheikh Rashid, the Sultan’s youngest son, bowed his head. “I will agree to marry a foreigner, as you wish.”

Bezira, the small Arab country that his father ruled over, was far too small for Sheikh Rashid to marry a local woman. It would only encourage factions and rivalries, and even worse, it would mean marrying someone who was probably related to him, even if it was only distantly. Bezira might have a fortune in oil, but it seriously lacked a large local population. The barren desert country was so inhospitable that it was traditionally home to only a few hardy Bedouin tribes who tended to intermarry. However, the local custom of marrying second or third cousins resulted in a series of medical issues. Therefore, the Sultan was adamant to break this local custom, starting with his own children.

“Good. I’m glad you agree. I knew you’d see sense.” The Sultan stepped forward and placed his hand on his son’s shoulder. “You’ll be please to know that I’ve already found you a bride.”

New Sheikh Romance On It's Way!

I've been away for a while on my summer holidays (which is why it's been quiet on this blog recently) and I while I was gone, I took advantage of the free time to write my next sheikh romance. It has a provisional title of A BRIDE FOR THE SHEIKH and although it's still at draft stage, I can give away a little bit about it.

When Sheikh Rashid is told by his father, the sultan, that he must marry the scheming daughter of his financial adviser, Chrystal Longhorn, the sheikh refuses. The sultan finally agrees to let his son choose his own bride, but on two conditions: she must be a foreigner, to prevent intermarriage with a local family, and she must be presented to the sultan as the sheikh’s bride in just two weeks’ time.

That evening Sheikh Rashid meets Angelina Smith, a beautiful young woman from England. The sheikh is immediately besotted with her. The attraction is mutual, but Angelina has just accepted a place at an exclusive law school in London. Will she throw away her hard-earned career dreams to become a Middle Eastern wife?

Being the royal wife of a billionaire sheikh is exactly what Chrystal Longhorn wants. What lengths will she go to in order to keep Sheikh Rashid and make sure he marries her and not Angelina?

Sheikh Rashid has only two weeks to persuade Angelina to marry him, or face a loveless marriage with Chrystal.

The clock is ticking...

The book still needs to be edited, but I hope to release it soon. Watch this space!

THE DESERT SHEIKH has won a top award!

Reviews can be nerve-wracking. Will the reader like it? Love it? Hate it? Everyone has different tastes and opinions, and that's good as it makes life more interesting; won't it be boring if we were all the same! However, I don't think any author likes to read a negative review, especially when it can have an impact on what a lot of other readers think. Therefore, when I received an email from the extremely popular site, The Romance Reviews, saying they had just posted a review of The Desert Sheikh, I was a bit nervous about clicking on the link to see it. Luckily, I needn't have worried.  Not only did the reviewer give it 5 stars, but The Desert Sheikh has also been awarded the site's Top Pick!

Here's an excerpt from the review:

This is a fast-paced and exotic tale of true love. I was instantly enraptured by the beautiful imagery and captivating characters. The story is full of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation.

For an exciting romance check out THE DESERT SHEIKH trilogy!

You can read the rest of it here.

Thank you Katie Codie, the reviewer from Curse of the Bibliophile, and thank you Romance Reviews!

The Desert Sheikh is now on video!

I just love this video of The Desert Sheikh which was created by the very talented Patti Roberts at Paradox Productions featuring all three books of The Desert Sheikh trilogy.

I'm also over at Patti's site talking about ice cream, writing in my PJs (no photos!) and my favourite quotes, including, 'I used to be Snow White, but I drifted'. Who said that? To check, go to my interview at Patti Roberts and Guests.

Thank you Patti and I hope everyone enjoys The Desert Sheikh video.

Writing Romance by Bestselling Author, Alexandra Sellers

First Alexandra, can I say how great it is to interview another romance author, especially one that writes sheikh romances!

Great to meet you, Katheryn!  And thank you for having me on your blog.  As Jane Austen says, "If the heroine of one novel be not patronized by the heroine of another, from whom can she expect protection and regard?"  For "heroine" read "sheikh romance novelist"!

First, I believe you have been writing for quite a few years, including writing romance novels for Harlequin.

Yes, my first book was published in 1980, by Dell. And my second was then commissioned by Harlequin, and after a few more books I went to Silhouette, which was then a Simon & Schuster imprint. Harlequin had to buy the whole imprint, I like to think, to get me back…

Would you like to star in a sheikh romance? Now's your chance!

What's the heroine called?
I'm about to release my latest sheikh romance series, The Sheikh's Beloved, but I'm having problems with the heroine's name. Originally I was going to call her Kate Perry, but I've just been told that the name is very similar to that of a famous singer (I must watch MTV more often!). I therefore need a new name and I thought I'd open it up to my readers.

The Sheikh’s Beloved - New sheikh romance on its way!

I am very excited about publishing my latest sheikh romance, The Sheikh’s Beloved! The manuscript is currently with an editor (the amazing Faith Williams at The Atwater Group), but as soon as it’s back and I’ve made the necessary changes (I hope there aren’t too many), I plan to publish the story.
At the moment I’m a bit addicted to writing about dark, sexy strangers from the Middle East coming up against strong-willed English woman. As in any good romance, they battle out their differences until they finally manage to get their happily-ever-after ending. However, being a sheikh romance, they also have to overcome huge cultural problems!

The initial idea for this particular sheikh romance, The Sheikh's Beloved, was based on the massive volcanic eruption that happened in Iceland in 2010, which resulted in flights being cancelled across Europe, including all flights into London. On the news at the time there were several stories about passengers who were stuck in transit in the Middle East and this led to me thinking about what would happen if one of the travellers was an attractive single woman and what would she do if she was offered hospitality by a rich, handsome sheikh?
The heroine in this romance has strawberry blonde hair and would look a bit like Scarlett Johansson in the picture above, while the sheikh, Sheikh Najid, is kind of cute and sexy, a bit like Karl Urban in this photo.

A whole new online addiction: Pinterest!

I’ve recently developed a whole new online addiction: Pinterest!

I first joined several months ago and created a couple of groups of pictures (boards) based on my first two romance novels, The Royal Sheikh and Her Latin Lover. I also created a miscellaneous group of pictures that I just generally liked the look of. Having done that, I promptly forgot all about the web site!

Double, Triple Sheikh Romance Novel Giveaway!

What could be better this Valentine's Day than a free romance novel, except perhaps several free romances! This year I'm celebrating the release of my bestselling sheikh romance series by giving away a free ebook copy of the complete set, The Desert Sheikh (3 books in 1!) In addition, I'm also offering a free ebook copy of my first sheikh romance, The Royal Sheikh.

What are people saying about The Desert Sheikh?

The Desert Sheikh was filled with sweet romance and two people working to bridge the cultural gaps that kept them apart. A strong woman finds a strong man, and they come together to create a successful marriage of two cultures. Love is the best bridge between people. Highly recommended.

5 stars

I loved the way the author broke the novel into three different sections. These sections are about the same couple but during different phases of their romance. Each section has a different obstacle they have to face. I like how they are woven together and I have to admit I fell a little in love with the sheikh myself. Where do I find this guy?

5 stars

What about The Royal Sheikh?

The Royal Sheikh is a page turner that I read in one evening. I love romance and this book will warm your heart. Clare is an architect in training and meets Rafiq one evening while out with her friend, Louise. Rafiq and Clare meet in the most unromantic way, although he quickly becomes entranced by her. They are both intrigued by each other and secretly hope to see each other again.
5 stars

The book is a must read for the romantic at heart. I loved the turns and twists in the plot. When things were going right I felt like cheering, and when things were going badly I felt like crying. That is certainly the tell-tell signs of a great book. If you believe in romance then you will want to read this book.

The Desert Sheikh. Now a #1 Amazon Bestseller!

What an amazing week it's been! Just over a week ago I released The Desert Sheikh, a sheikh romance in three parts, and already it's reached a top spot on Amazon and is now a #1 Best Seller! As well as hitting number 1 in Hot New Releases in Eastern Drama, it has reached number 5 in Amazon's list for Short Story Romances.

The individual parts of the story, Kidnapped By The Sheikh, Married To The Sheikh and The Sheikh's Son are also doing well. They are in the top 4 in Hot New Releases in Eastern Drama and they are in the top 10 in Best Sellers in the same category.

I would like to thank everybody who has downloaded a copy of one of my sheikh books. It looks like a sheikh romance is just what's needed to escape the cold on a long, dark winter's night.

Hot New Release! The Desert Sheikh

This week I am super excited to see my latest romance novel, The Desert Sheikh, on the virtual bookshops where it is already selling fast!

What's it about?

The first book, Kidnapped By The Sheikh, is about a woman, Dr Sarah Greenwich, who is kidnapped on her way to the airport by a Bedouin warlord, Sheikh Akbar Al-Zafir, in the mistaken belief that she is the British Ambassador's wife. Eventually, the sheikh discovers that he has been tricked, but by then it is too late, he has already fallen in love with his captive. . .

However, in Book 2, Married To The Sheikh, Sarah quickly discovers that life in the desert is not as idyllic as it could be. Although the sheikh is a passionate, sensual lover, he is not the perfect husband. Also, there are other women who want to get into Sheikh Akbar's bed. Eventually, Sarah is forced to make a terrible choice. . .

In Book 3, The Sheikh's Son, Sarah and Akbar struggle to reconcile their completely different lifestyles and cultures: she's a doctor living in London, while he's a Bedouin ruler from the Arabian peninsula. However, the presence of Ali, their only child and the sheikh's heir, forces them into trying to find a solution. . .

Although each story stands on its own and can be bought separately as novellas, they are also published together as a complete book, The Desert Sheikh, so people can read them in order (and save money!!)
