Meet Multitalented Author, Michelle Matkins

Today I’m thrilled to be interviewing the wonderful author, Michelle Matkins. First Michelle, could you tell us about your books?

Hi Katheryn!  I’m so excited to be interviewed on your blog. So far, I have written 13 books. Under the name Michelle Ann Hollstein, I’ve written a fantasy trilogy; The Niberia Chronicles, and a cozy mystery series; The Ms. Aggie Underhill Mysteries. I also have a brand new YA Paranormal series; A Lost Souls Novel, written under the name Michelle Matkins.

Why did you become an author?

Honestly, I was bored at work. I know, sounds silly. I was working as an administrative assistant for many years and when I’d finish all of my work, I’d get bored. Most people within the company played Solitaire or surfed the net, but I decided to utilize my time with writing. I couldn’t just open a book at my desk and read like I wanted to, so I figured I’d write my own book instead. When I finished writing the 1st one, I couldn’t stop. I was completely hooked. I couldn’t wait to get started writing the 2nd book.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m writing Dead Ringer, An Aggie Underhill Mystery. It’s the 8th book in the series. Poor Aggie is stumbling into trouble once again. This time she’s trying to locate the owner of a lost ring she found baked into a Gluten Free donut. Little does she know that the ring is tied to a murder and the killer isn’t too happy with her investigation.

Where does the inspiration for your stories and characters come from?

Real life. I lived in the Southern California desert for over 11 years. I use the Palm Springs area in the majority of my books. My characters may seem outrageous, but I swear these people really do exist.

You write a variety of genres, including paranormal, mystery and fantasy. Which one is your favourite?

That’s a hard question to answer because they’re all fun in their own way. But I’ve got to admit, I sometimes catch myself laughing out loud while writing my mystery series. Aggie and her friends say and do the silliest things.

What are you reading at the moment?

I’m currently reading, There’s More to Life Than This by Theresa Caputo (The Long Island Medium). I have a fascination with ghosts and psychics, which is why I started writing my A Lost Souls Novel series. My main character, Vienna, is a young girl who discovers that she’s psychic. With the assistance of her hunky spirit guide, Jack, she helps ghosts to cross over to the Other Side by solving unresolved mysteries.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not reading and writing?

When I’m not reading or writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my two fabulous kids and my spoiled rotten dogs, Sasha and Dougal.

Where can readers buy your books?

My ebooks are available on Amazon Kindle and paperbacks are available in various online bookstores.

Where can readers find our more about you?

Chapters from my books and short stories are also available on Wattpad: http://www.wattpad.com/user/MichelleMatkins
