I love Sean Connery! Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. I'll try my hardest to track it down. It was released in 75 and stared Connery as an Arab prince in Morocco in 1901 battling his family and the Western Powers that were colonizing the Middle East. Candice Bergen played an American widow who was kidnapped with her two children to be used as a political pawn by Connery's Sheik to regain power. Unfortunately he royally pissed off Teddy Roosevelt played well by Brian Keith who sent the U.S. Marines in to rescue Bergen. In the meantime, ina very low key but charming almost-romance, Connery wins the heart of Bergen and her children, but being many times married and a religious leader of the Muslim faith, he could never BE with Bergen.
This was a rousing and moving adventure as the American Marines found themselves going up against German troops of the Kaiser and other European powers, as well as the Arab Moroccan rulers in a three-or-four sided battle royal with Connery's dashing Sheik squarely in the middle.
I have to admit I love the movie because it is one of the greatest adventure films ever made, and there's a fantastic action sequence at the very beginning as Bergen and her children are kidnapped. I am not sure Connery was ever better. And the romantic in me always wished there had been some way that the impossible lovers could have found a way to be together.
It would be fun to read your books with the picture in the back of your mind. As for you, if you ever have the chance to see the film - which is available on DVD and every format I can think of but it's old - see it. I think you'll like it.Daniel Quentin Steelehttp://wempublishing.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7203510438592183101.post-13831959277594134782012-11-30T08:23:45.094+00:002012-11-30T08:23:45.094+00:00Thank you!
